This category is for individuals who wish to come to the United Kingdom to do temporary work for a licensed sponsor. In order to qualify applicants will need to demonstrate that they have a job offer from a licensed sponsor, a valid Certificate of Sponsorship and pass the Points Based System assessment.

This category is divided into the following sub-categories:

Creative and Sporting

This is for individuals coming to the United Kingdom to work or perform as sports people, entertainers or creative artists for up to 12 months. Sports person must be internationally established at the highest level in their sport and/or their employment must make a significant contribution to the development in running of sport at the highest level in the United Kingdom. Coaches must be suitably qualified to do the job.

Charity Workers

This is for individuals wishing to come to the United Kingdom to do voluntary (unpaid) work for a charity. The work must be directly related to the work of your sponsor’s organisation.

Religious Workers

This is for individuals wishing to come to the United Kingdom to work temporarily as a religious worker which can include preaching, pastoral work and non pastoral work.

Government Authorised Exchange

This is for individuals who want to come to the United Kingdom through approved schemes that aim to share knowledge, experience and practice and to experience the social and cultural life of the United Kingdom. This category must not be used to fill job vacancies or to bring unskilled labour to the United Kingdom.

International Agreement

This category is for individuals who wish to come to the United Kingdom under contract to do work that is covered under international law including the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), similar agreements between the United Kingdom and other countries, employees of overseas governments and international organisations and private servants in diplomatic households.

Youth Mobility Scheme

This scheme is for young people from participating countries (currently Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and Monaco) who would like to come and experience life in the United Kingdom. Individuals wishing to come to the United Kingdom under this scheme must be sponsored by their national government. British Overseas Citizens, British Overseas Territories Citizens and British Nationals (overseas) can also apply under this scheme and do not need a sponsor.
